A Solar generator is of course a generator powered by solar power. These portable generators are powered by capturing energy power from the sun storing that power in a battery to be used mainly as a back-up. Popular uses are when camping, on boats at home and in the garden.

Advantages are they don’t need fuel they are quiet with low-maintenance but they do have limited power and can be slow to charge, but bought for the purpose described they are ideal. A solar powered generator will not charge your home but is ideal for small appliances and devises including of course lap tops and mobile phones. Remember, no portable generator will power your home but some solar generators can power some key appliances in your home during an emergency.

The most important thing when buying a solar powered generator is the battery capacity, that is how much energy the battery will hold. With that information you will know if the generator will meet your usage needs. The battery capacity is measured in watt-hours (Wh)
For example, a 1,000Wh solar generator can power a 60watt light bulb for around 17hours. So what to look out for when buying? You can buy a 337Wh solar generator or a 2,000Wh generator, but the larger the capacity the more expensive the generator will be.

An inverter is the device that converts battery power (DC) into alternating current for the use on your device. Popular solar generators come with the solar charger and invertor included in the battery pack. Remember when buying, not all solar generators come with solar panels, these types come just with the battery and invertor and will be cheaper but not as useful.
